About us

The Gräb tree nursery, which originated from a fruit-growing business, still has very close ties to practicing fruit growers today. The first hand grafts and rootstocks were trained in 1988. In the early years of production, the focus was on pome fruit. As demand for high-quality stone fruit trees grew steadily from the mid-1990s onwards, the decision was made to pursue the current market strategy of serving the stone fruit tree market segment.

Sweet cherries are currently the most important crop on a cultivation area of over 20 hectares. Apricots, plums, peaches, nectarines, sour cherries, and elderberries round out the range. Our target group is exclusively commercial fruit growers and container nurseries.

Climate and soil

The wine-growing climate in the region between the Rhine and Moselle rivers is characterized by low rainfall in summer. Average annual precipitation is between 500 and 600 mm/m². The average annual temperature is 10.8 °C. The local climate promotes early wood maturation and tree health during cultivation.

The volcanic weathered soil has a high pumice content, which promotes good aeration of the soil. Our soils are characterized by a high water storage capacity and rapid warming, thus offering optimal conditions for the cultivation of stone fruit trees.
